How can I prepare for placement in IT industry after my BCA?

BCA students have to prepare themselves for the industry during their course of study. It is recommended that students should at least be ready to start working as an intern or in a junior level after the first 2 years of their study period. Students can follow different strategies to prepare for the placement.

Build a strong technical foundation:
Based on the interest area, students can start with a professional training. Professional training will help students to acquire industry skills within a short period of 3-4 months. After the successful completion of the training students must develop projects to take their skills to the next level.

Build a Portfolio:
BCA graduates can showcase their projects done at college in git. Students can also upload several freelancing projects or research based projects in their git account. It increases popularity among the peers and like  minded people. These days companies check git and linkedin account before hiring a candidate. Therefore, building a strong portfolio in linkedin and git will increase the chances of getting hired.

Internship:
It is necessary for students to do internship. There is a huge gap between the academic and industry world. Therefore, to fulfill this gap it is important for students to do internship. During internship period student will get the industry exposure. They will learn about the working culture in this period.

Certifications:
Certifications are important means to get your skills certified globally. If you complete a global certification course then your chances of getting hired will increase accordingly. Certifications will rank you on a higher level among the applicants.

Soft skills development:
These days soft skills are equally important as technical skills. If an individual has a strong technical skills but lacks in communication skills then it will be hard for him/ her to move ahead in the career path. Therefore, soft skills like communication skills, time management skills, leadership skills etc.

Networking:
Participate in different events like workshop, seminars, job fairs where you can meet with the potential employers. Students can also take advantage of their alumni to seek help for placements.
